Board

ITF’s Board is globally representative and composed of trans activists, advocates, and movement leaders. The Board provides governance, strategic guidance, and accountability, helping ensure ITF remains aligned with its mission and values.

Alex Rodrigo Castillo Hernandez
LGBTI Human Rights Defender

Location: Guatemala

  • Alex is a certified accountant and business administration technician. He founded Colectivo de Hombres Trans Trans-Formación in 2013. It was the first trans men’s collective in Central America. He went on to serve as President of the Red Centroamérica de Hombres Trans (Central American Network of Trans Men) from 2014 to 2019. From 2019 to 2023, he led Red de Colectivos Americanos de Hombres Trans y Personas Disidentes del Género Femenino Asignado al Nacer (REDCAHT+).

    REDCAHT+ is a regional network that brings together AFAB trans men and gender-diverse individuals from across the Americas. Alex believes that “The trans world must be more equitable and full of opportunities to live in fulfillment and freedom.”

  • Ayouba plays an active role in trans movement building, including serving as Regional Manager of Transat. Transat is the first trans-led organization in the MENA region. Ayouba is also the co-founder of Nassawiyat, a pioneering group for LBTQI+ women and non-binary individuals in Morocco.

    Ayouba has held leadership roles with a number of organizations. They served as the Francophone Coordinator at Pan Africa ILGA, Morocco Country Focal Point at GNP+, and Steering Committee Member at the African Trans Network (ATN). They have also been an Advisor for FRIDA (The Young Feminist Fund), representing the SWANA region. Their work is grounded in research and activism focused on SOGIESC, HIV, intersectional feminism, and decolonial and participatory grantmaking models.

Denny Mwaurah
Finance & Operations Lead, Grant Management Specialist & Trans Rights Advocate

Pronouns: she/they
Location: Kenya

  • They specialize in financial reporting, budgeting, internal controls, compliance, and grant management—ensuring strategic financial stewardship, transparency, and robust organizational ecosystems.

    They have contributed to strengthening funding organizations such as FRIDA and UHAI EASHRI. As a former ITF Grant Making Panelist, Denny helped shape funding strategies that center intersectional, trans-led initiatives and advocate for inclusive, sustainable funding practices. A passionate LGBTQIA+ youth advocate, they have spoken at global forums, including the 2022 ILGA World Conference, on the importance of diversified, youth-focused funding and the integration of youth into leadership.

    Denny leverages finance expertise, data analysis, and consulting work to design strategic funding models, build infrastructure for both institutional funds and grassroots groups, and streamline financial systems that support gender, racial, and economic equity. Her guiding philosophy is that transparency, empathetic data use, and collaboration turn resources into impactful change for a just world.

Franco Fuica
Trans Masculine Activist

Location: Chile

  • Franco Fuica (he/they) is a Chilean trans activist of masculine expression, passionate about justice, identity, and community. With 20 years of experience, he has been a pioneer in student, political, and social spaces, building bridges between institutional and grassroots movements. He co-founded and leads OTD Chile, a key organization in the country’s trans movement.

    Franco has taken on international leadership roles, including as Co-Chair of the Equal Rights Coalition (ERC) and as a trans representative in ILGA LAC. He has also collaborated with the OAS on initiatives related to civil identity and LGBTIQ+ rights. In Chile, he worked within the Santiago Municipality and fostered partnerships with local governments to strengthen inclusion.

    Franco prefers the pronoun "he" in everyday life and "they/them" in public spaces as a pedagogical tool to make diversity visible. He deeply believes in the power of relationships and defines himself by the small things: supporting new activists, sharing knowledge, and pampering his cats.

Felix Endara (Co-Chair)
Feminist Philanthropy Organizer

Location: New York, USA 

  • In this role, he coordinates LGBTQI and Communications & Journalism grantees across Central America and Mexico. He is proud of his work initiating grants to support trans-led organizations in El Salvador and Guatemala. He also facilitated the inclusion of the first trans masculine grantee in the program.

    At FJS, Félix manages a diverse portfolio. He oversees grants for feminist journalism and communication initiatives that advance social justice through storytelling. His experience also includes co-chairing the Trans/Intersex Task Force at the Global Philanthropy Project and New York Grantmakers in the Arts.

Liberty Matthyse
Advocate for Human Rights and Executive Director of Gender DynamiX

  • They are a lawyer by qualification, holding both an LLB and an LLM. Liberty believes the law can be a powerful tool for social justice. When used effectively, it can shift marginalized people from the margins to the center of society.

    She is passionate about building a world where trans and gender-diverse people can fully embody themselves and reach their full potential in all areas of life. In her/their free time, Liberty enjoys writing, playing tennis, and spending time with loved ones.

Mikee Inton-Campbell
Professor

Location: California, USA

  • She grew up in the Philippines and previously served on the Board of Trustees of the Society of Trans Women of the Philippines (STRAP). Dr. Inton-Campbell co-chaired the Trans Steering Committee at ILGA World from 2014 - 2019. She also served on ITF's Grant Making Panel.

    As a transfeminist scholar, her research and teaching focus on issues of sexuality and pleasure. She explores decolonizing transness, global histories of trans and queer social movements, and sex work.

Joe Wong
Advocate, Movement Weaver, Community Care Practitioner

Location: Thailand

  • Through his work at the Asia Pacific Transgender Network (APTN), he focuses on resourcing and sustaining the leadership of trans and gender-diverse communities. He prioritizes those at the frontlines of resistance, healing, and collective care.

    Over the past decades, Joe has worked alongside activists, organizers, and networks. He supports policy advocacy, intersectional organizing, and regional coalition building. His approach is rooted in feminist, anti-colonial, and trauma-informed values. It centers wellbeing, relational leadership, and the wisdom of intergenerational lived experience.

    Joe believes in movements that nourish. He envisions a future where trans communities thrive with dignity, autonomy, and joy.

  • She previously worked in Switzerland with the Community, Rights and Gender (CRG) Department of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.

    At the Global Fund, she supported community responses and systems strengthening (CRSS) interventions. She was also active in the organization’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) working group, advocating for gender-responsive and SOGIESC-inclusive programs and policies.

    Raine has over 12 years of experience in program, Monitoring & Evaluation, and grants management for HIV-related community systems strengthening (CSS) grants. Her work in the Philippines and the Asia Pacific region focuses on supporting trans-led and inclusive organizations, as well as other key and vulnerable communities.

    Before joining the Global Fund, she held various roles with the Asia Pacific Transgender Network, ISEAN-Hivos, PNGOC, and TLF SHARE.

Natasha Jiménez Mata
Advocate and Facilitator

  • Throughout her career, she has supported numerous initiatives and contributed to key publications, including What’s the Point of Revolution if We Can’t Dance?, Interdicciones, and INTER / Human Intersex Experience in a Two-Sex World.

    Natasha has been active in political advocacy spaces within both the Organization of American States (OAS) and the United Nations. She currently serves as the General Coordinator of Mulabi / Latin American Space for Sexualities and Rights, a Costa Rica–based organization that leads projects across the region.

    Her leadership roles have included serving as Secretary General of ILGALAC (2019), leading the Intersex Secretariat of ILGA World, and holding positions on the Board of Directors of the International Trans Fund, the Coordinating Council of the Latin American Network for Democracy, and as an advisor to the Intersex Human Rights Fund.

    As a Board member, Natasha sees her contributions as a small grain of sand toward strengthening the global trans movement.

  • Sara is a seasoned leader with over 30 years of experience in activism, advocacy, corporate management, and community development. Her work spans trans and feminist movements. She also serves as national manager in Ireland for the US-based multinational Tremco CPG.

Sylvester Kazibwe
Partnership Officer

  • Sylvester currently serves on Astraea Lesbian Foundation for Justice’s International Fund Advisory Board. He previously served as Secretary of the International Advisory Committee of the Power of Pride Programme. Additionally, he has served as Regional Trans Rights Programme Officer at Iranti, and Deputy Director of TNU. He is currently the Partnership Officer at UHAI-EASHRI.

    Sylvester has over nine years of experience in the fields of human rights and LGBT activism. He has an extensive background in LGBTIQ+-related research and has contributed to a number of studies. His research is featured in Trans Equality in Mauritius Through Universal Human Rights Lenses, and Looking Through the Prism – Narrative of Queer Dignity in South Africa. He has also contributed to research on current practices in conversion therapy, emerging technology, and LGBTQ+ rights protection in Africa.

    Sylvester is deeply invested in bolstering the protection and promotion of trans rights in Africa. He is passionate about trans movement building and supporting grassroots organizations in the fight for social justice and equity. Aside from social justice work, he loves sports.
